"I believe intention is key in everything. Very often I see semi trucks filled with cows and pigs or other creatures on their way to a sort of transformation from animal to food source. I could choose to feel sad and pain but that doesn't help the problem. I acknowledged the discomfort and then I chose to wrap the trucks with love and peace for the animals so that they may feel loved and cherished for the lives they led and the people they will sustain. We just need more love and an understanding that each and every one of us plays a vital role here on Earth."
Today that I was challenged with feeling love and peace for those animals as I was driving next to one of these semi trucks. I was overcome with sadness. I started to cry. I could see the beautiful dairy cows. One stuck her nose out a hole and was just sniffing the breeze and started licking the air. I cried some more. I saw their faces. I thought "how could anyone not see the beautiful, soulful animals they are and just discard them like this after they are done serving us?" I stopped myself right then and there. I know that we all have our place here on Earth and each being is here for a reason. Who am I to judge this practice? After all, I do eat meat. I considered becoming a vegetarian (again) and then considered following the truck to the plant to purchase all the cows and take them home to live our their lives. But then I it struck me, why not just talk to the cows and receive their "take" on the experience.
That is exactly what I did and let me tell you it was enlightening and inspiring.
I asked them how they felt about their situation.
"We are here because we chose this life."
I asked what do you mean.
"Before we came here to Earth we chose the life of a dairy cow to help our souls grow and learn the lessons that only a dairy cow could give."
How could you feel okay with being "discarded" like this?
"We are all going to die. After all it is only the body that will die. We, our souls, who we truly are, will live on. We understand how to seperate from the pain done to our bodies and allow our souls to take the lessons away from the experience unharmed."
Why would you want this life?
"We are sacrificing our milk and our babies for you. You need us to survive. We are allowing you your experience with our sacrifice. You are also becoming aware that the Earth, due to your manufaction and industry, is hurting. Through us you will start to understand how to balance and sustain life on Earth."
Aren't you afraid of going to the plant, of there being a painful death?
"No, we knew coming into this life that this is how it would end. We are ok with this journey as it allows us to move on to the next phase of our existence. Death is a part of life and not all transformations are painless. You have the opportunity to learn from pain and to grow from it. Again, it is only the body dying, yes sometimes the body cries out and it hurts, but we don't hurt, and our soul lives on."
I was so calmed and at peace after talking with the cows. They are truly amazing creatures that have so much to offer. Their message was also of humans learning to balance our industrialized life with the natural life. That is was vitally important to the existance of all beings on Earth that we find that balance.
I was able to open my heart, free from attachment and just feel love and peace for those cows on their journey. I feel blessed to have that opportunity to connect with the cows and share their message.
